From art that has recently been produced, positions were selected that, independent from the general media, are concerned with political themes or at least draw from motifs that have political associations. Oliver Ressler’s and Zanny Begg’s film entitled "what would it mean to win?" deals with the G8 summits. Tanya Ury and Till Rohmann present a piece: “Trains“, about the German railway’s past that is receiving its première here in Germany, as is Ressler’s work. Stefan Moersch’s installation work concerns itself with the subject of surveillance and Myriam Thyes with “Flag Metamorphoses” shows the transformational capabilities of national symbol imagery. Giuriati and Giannotti disguise themselves as Carabinieri and drive an Italian police car through Europe. Their appearance, so detached from the dominating sphere of the Italian police has a performative character – with the altered context uniforms and car are perceived as aesthetic phenomena, however. And finally, Daniel Behrendt presents drawings of well-known politicians – fleeting moments of transient power.
