A space shuttle is a medium of transportation commuting between two locations - and this is the very heart of the concept of the Kuenstlerhaus Dortmund project within the context of 'scene: austria in nrw'. It is the first part of a mutual exchange that connects exhibition spaces in Dortmund and Vienna that are similar in structure.

The three institutions - Fotogalerie Wien, masc foundation / 39 dada and Medienwerkstatt Wien - represented in the exhibition are comparable to the Kuenstlerhaus Dortmund in the sense that in all places artists act as independent curators in the institutions' own exhibition spaces and with the focus on showing other artists' works instead of their own.

In Dortmund the artists from the above institutions will present their own, individual artistic works without any restrictions in form and content. This offers the opportunity to experience a broad and vivid spectrum of contemporary art impressions from Vienna.

In 2009 the shuttle will carry the members of the Kuenstlerhaus into the spaces of Fotogalerie, masc foundation / 39 dada and Medienwerkstatt in Vienna.

A corresponding catalogue has been published.
